The Mágical Dimension at Skyline Elementary School opened in January, 1996.  The bilingual, Spanish-English site grew from the original Fifth Dimension at Solana Beach and La Clase Mágica.  There are task cards in Spanish and in English.  The maze is called the Laberinto.  El Maga and the Wizard both respond to children's e-mail.  Sometimes their Russian cousin, the Volshebnik does as well.

The Mágical Dimension is run collaboratively by the San Dieguito Boys and Girls Club and the Solana Beach School District.  The Club pays the Assistant Site Coordinator, who after attending the Mágical Dimension walks children to the Club.  The school district pays the Site Coordinator, provides the space, hardware and software, and has established an e-mail account for the project.

The Mágical Dimension has 24 computers, 18 of them Macs.  Several are linked to the Internet. The combination of authoring programs like Hyper Studio and Kid Pix Studio and open ended art programs like Storybook Weaver and Kid Pix has contributed to making the Mágical Dimension a creative learning and play environment. The project has been successful in attracting a diverse population of children.
