The communication department offers both an undergraduate and graduate program:
The undergraduate program offers Communication as both a major and minor topic of study. The communication major is not designed as a training program in advertising, journalism, production, or public relations. It provides students with a solid liberal arts background necessary for graduate studies in communication and other disciplines, and for professional work in a number of communication-related fields, including primary and secondary education.
You can find out more on our undergraduate pages, including information on how to apply to the program.
The Ph.D. Program in Communication at UCSD is known worldwide as a center of innovative scholarship. It was ranked #2 among U.S. doctoral programs in the area of Critical Cultural/Media Studies in the most recent Doctoral Program Reputation Survey of the National Communication Association.
