Comm/HIP 175 / Spring 1998: Student Class Projects

The websites listed below are the result of ten short weeks of work by students in the Spring 1998 Distance Education class.
Distance Education at UCSD and Other UC Campuses

A look at the current state of Distance Education efforts at the four UC campuses (Berkeley, Irvine, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara) where programs exist. Of particular interest here is the program at UCLA. In January, when the class started, there was little to their be seen on their website. In late May (as near as we can figure), the amount of material on their website exploded. UCLA, at least on the web, has the most extensive DL program of any UC campus.

This site also includes a look at UCSD's efforts in distance education and interviews with some of the people doing distance ed.

A Website for Comm/Gen 20 Introduction to Communication.

This site is an investigation into what can be done to enhance the education of students currently enrolled in a regular session class at UCSD, Comm/Gen 20, our basic survey course on the history of communication.

The site takes the course topics and builds webpages that expand upon the related lectures.

Video Distance Education

A broad look at the issues surrounding the technologies of distance education, different kinds of distance education, and an in-depth look at an ongoing distance learning project at UCSD: the Communication/HIP 116 video conferences with students at UCLA.
