A
narrative and documentary filmmaker, Chesler produces works across
genre that explore issues of gender and sexuality. Sound practice,
sound theory and documentary theory figure prominently in her critical
research and media based work while Chesler's background in Anthropology,
Archaeology, and Women's Studies informs her films and critical
writing. Chesler’s films are distributed internationally and
screen at film festivals and cinema venues worldwide. She serves
as a curator and juror for film festivals in San Diego and for national
film conferences. In 2006, she received The Most Distinguished Filmmaker
award from the San Diego Women Film Foundation. Professionally,
Giovanna Chesler works as a cinematographer and editorial consultant
on documentary projects. |

of menstruation changes. How does this trend challenge understandings
