Research Interests:
My interests have dealt with language use to convey identity within the realm of television news broadcasts as well as radio broadcasts. Some of the papers that I wrote during my M.A. program were: “Language and Identity in The Mark and Brian Radio Program”, “Recapitation of the Talking Heads: Deterrence from traditional broadcast identity on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “Broadcaster Pronunciation: Spanish vs. English pronunciation on the 11 p.m. Television News”. My current interest specifically deals with the performance of gender and sexuality through language use within the arenas of stand-up comedy and sketch comedy.
