Bio

Ben Berners-Lee is a researcher with interests in cognitive linguistics, phenomenology and postcolonial studies. His honors thesis critically evaluates cognitive semantics and the project of “naturalizing phenomenology” through Antonin Artaud’s concept of “the nerve meter.” Ben’s other research subjects include the conceptual metaphor of “aesthetic distance” as it operates across art cultures in the postcolonial moment.

Before coming to UCSD Ben worked as a teaching fellow at Excel Charter High School in Boston and as the student coordinator for the Foundation Courses Collaboration at Emerson College.
