Right of Return

FARID: Arafat had eight years to think about it and presumably longer before he went to Oslo. The right of return is not a surprise. Noboby is springing that on him that the Israelis freak out every time you say the two words. You have to be prepared on what you what do.

MAJEED: But you he couldn't except on the spot, right then and there, to give it up. You have to understand that.

FARID: You give a counter proposal.

BOB: I can't imagine one of my second-year law students going into a negotiation without having tried to figure out what it is that the other side absolutely minimally needs and what it is I absolutely minimally need, and a starting point that goes further than what the I minimally need but always negotiating to what I understand I minimally need and the other party minimally needs. That means that you have to understand the other side and have to start with a plan of your own.
