Let me tell you another story from '48. As the Palestinians were leaving the western part of Jerusalem, Jewish forces were taking over properties and offering them to Jews. If you know that part of the city, these were very nice, large brick homes. My mother was a young mother, with her husband off at the front. But she refused an offer of a home. She said that he couldn't live in a home of people who were refugees. This story has stayed in my mind. It demonstrates what was going on.
