Taking Back the Border: Sub-Cultural Producers in the border region of the Imperial Valley, CA and Mexicali, BC.

This thesis explores the relationship between the national border in the cities of Mexicali and Imperial Valley and the creative communities residing in the region. Analyzing how the border affects the production of culture, and what and how it therefore produces, this thesis considers the particular ways in which global and local cultural processes intersect to shape a trans border culture that is both unified and variegated.
