Official graduation and participating in Commencement are two separate things:
Graduation is the term used to describe when a student has completed all requirements, and their degree has been officially posted to the academic record. Students must complete a Degree and Diploma Application (DDA) to file for graduation.
Commencement is the annual ceremony in which eligible students participate. Participation in the Commencement does not constitute official graduation from the university.
Participation in June Commencement is intended for students with 135 units by the end of winter and completing their degree the fall, winter, or spring of the current academic year, or the summer or fall immediately following.
The official Commencement website includes details for all activities, including the All Campus Commencement and individual College Commencement ceremonies. Registration is required. Website includes information about registering, tickets, parking, regalia.
Each College hosts their own Commencement ceremony, separate from the All Campus Commencement. It is at your College Commencement ceremony that your name will be read and you will walk across the stage to be recognized. To participate, eligible students must register on the University's Commencement website.
